About The Bodhi Temple
The place is located 12 Kms from Gaya Railway Station, an important junction on Grand Chord line of Eastern Railways. With the nearest Airport at Patna, Bodhi temple Bodhgaya is approx. 106 Kms by Road from Patna, the capital of Bihar. It was here, that the Lord Buddha sat under the Banyan tree (known as Buddhist bodhi tree or Bodhi tree Bodh gaya) and attained enlightenment, and a descendant of that original tree still flourishes there today. According to tradition a large number of shrines and memorials were erected at the site to commemorate the incidents before after enlightenment but only few now can be recognized.

Bodhi Temple History
The Bodhi temple Bodhgaya is one of the important places of worship for the Buddhists. Apart from being a vital Buddhist centre, it is also a significant archaeological site. Devout Buddhists and tourists from all over the world visit Bodhi temple complex, to study Buddhism and the art of meditation, or to simply absorb the aura of solemn splendour that surrounds the temple.

Pretshila Hill
This hill is about 10 kms from the Ramshila hill and just below the hill is the Brahma Kund. After taking bath in this pond people go for the Pind Dan, a ritual to appease departed souls of ancestors. The temple is an attraction for tourists due to its unique architecture and magnificent sculptures.

The Bodh Gaya Museum
The museum has a large collection of stone sculptures and other artifacts. The museum is maintained by The Archaeological survey of India. The bronze statues in the museum are very attractive. It also has a small collection of Buddha statues and pillars.
