A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada was behind the foundation of the movement that is officially known as the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON or ISCON) in 1966. Significantly, the society has developed into a worldwide confederation of 6,000 temple devotees and 190,000 congregational devotees. It comprises of more than 350 centers, 60 rural communities, 50 schools and 60 restaurants spread all across the globe. The main objective of the society is to promote the well being of society by teaching the science of Krishna consciousness according to the Bhagavad-Gita and other ancient Vedic scriptures of India.

About Iskcon Temples
The ashram provides a reading room, a combination of reference library and study containing all of Srila Prabhupada's books, various other books and magazines, VIHE course books and a computer with the folio. This also houses VIHE courses on tape and a tape recorder and headphones. In fact, over 50 courses are available on tape. And there is a large collection of many course books from past and current courses of Iskcon cult.

Vrindavan Institute of Higher Education.
Incepted in the year 1987, the institute aims at Krishna Iskcon consciousness culture to larger sections of society and future generations. The educational institute provides an oppurtunity to study Vedic literature, specifically translated by Srila Prabhupada. Established after the death of Srila Prabhupada, in order to fulfil his desire of having an institute at Vrindavan that would train people in the Krishna consciousness movement through Radha Krishna temple and give them a thorough understanding on the subject so that they would go out and preach to the world.

Courses At Iskcon Temple
The institute has various courses throughout the year and provides an atmosphere conducive to realization of the Supreme Being, Lord Krishna or Hare Krsna as they say. Courses are held on the main books of Srila Prabhupada's - 'Bhagavad-Gita. The institute provides a perfect environment for those wanting to engage in serious study of philosophy of Srila Prabhupada and Krishna consciousness.

Of various courses held here at Vrindavan, the 'Bhakti Sastri' is most popular and important course. It involves study of all 18 chapters of 'Bhagavad-Gita. Several other short-term courses are regularly held here. Teachers are carefully chosen from around the world. The institute is thus designed to give students a full experience of Krishna Consciousness by providing full facility to learn the details of Vaishnava, ideology and culture in the divine ambiance of Vrindavan. Even the temples are decorated with beautiful Iskcon paintings to add to the divine ambiance where everyone is lost in enchanting Iskcon bhajans of Krishna.
