    Sadhu Vaswani Mission - Location
     Pune is well linked city by air, rail and road from all parts of the
    country. Pune is about 180 kms from Mumbai. The frequency of state
    government buses are good as they start every 15 minutes, and ply all day
    long, to and fro between Mumbai and Pune. This Asiad bus service starts from
    Dadar in Mumbai and it takes 4 - 5 hours to reach the place. Within Pune the
    best mode of transport is the three-wheelers, the auto-rickshaws. 
    
    About The Founder
     Born on November 25, 1879 in Hyderabad, Sadhu Vaswani, the man responsible
    for the initiation of the 'Mira Movement in Education' in Sindh. After
    completing his post graduation, Vaswani started working as a professor in
    the Metropolitan College in Calcutta. As a zealous patriot, Vasvani became a
    part of the India's struggle movement, however, was his primary interest in
    life and he soon turned his attention to that. He also opened the 'Shakti
    Ashram' at Rajpur, where young men from various parts of the country were
    trained to take on participate in the free India movement. Sadhu Vaswani
    firmly endorsed the view that the future belonged to the youth and they
    needed to be taught and disciplined to undertake the tasks ahead of them. 
    
    About The Sadhu Vaswani Mission
     The Sadhu Vaswani Mission is a non-profit and ethereal institution that
    aims to provide social work to the destitute and needy, sick and aged,
    irrespective of caste, creed or color. In 1931, the Mission was incepted in
    Hyderabad, in Sindh by Sadhu T. L. Vaswani. His celestial outlook and
    ideology of life revolved around the supreme ideal of reverence for all
    life, service to suffering humanity and cultivation of the soul. The
    Headquarters of the Sadhu Vaswani Mission was shifted to Pune in 1950 after
    the partitions. 
    
    Activities At The Mission
    Mira Movement in Education
     Incepted in the year 1933 by Sadhu Vaswani, the 'Mira Movement in
    Education', centralized in Pune at the Sadhu Vaswani Mission, were moved to
    other major cities in India such as Delhi, Baroda, Ahmedabad, Rajkot and
    Mumbai. The objective behind this movement is to impart education to all,
    combining the best of the East with the best of the West. 
    
     The other activities with which the mission is involved are education,
    promotion of the Sindhi language Village Upliftment, Medical Relief Meatless
    Day Campaign The educational institutions located at Pune are Shanti Vidya
    Mandir, St. Mira's Bal Bhavan , St. Mira's Primary School.
